re open estate

Mom passed estate was closed. there was an outstanding legal suit, which was awarded now atty have to reopen and wants to charge again. can i do a settlement letter to the creditors my self as representative to reduce the amount owed or is it better to have atty drawn up papers.  atty said we can see if they will take 50%  these creditors  put in a claim there is some money coming in from suit but not muchwhat is your recommendation.what is the reduction amount.See More

Insurance check made out to estate

My step father passed away in June 17, he had a will.  He left my mother as the executor of the estate and his will has been filed with the courts.  He had no outstanding bills and any life insurance he had my mother named as the beneficiary.  His investments were to go to his 3 children and paper work has been started for that. The question is that when we cancelled his health insurance there was a premium refund issued for $500.00 but it was made out to the estate.  My mother is not able to…See More
